Importing Answers into a Form from Excel

created a year ago

Hello,

Does SurveyJS currently support importing answers into a questionnaire from an Excel file? Our practice has standardized data files that need to be presented in a questionnaire, which afterwards has questions related to said data that we send out to clients about it. Is that something that SurveyJS could do?

Below is the process we envision:

  • SurveyJS standard questionnaire templates
  • Import supplemental financial information to fill in some missing context
  • Have questionnaire filled out
  • Print questionnaire with both Imported Excel data and SurveyJS data into a PDF

Thank you so much!

Hello Marcin,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, the SurveyJS Form Library does not have built-in Excel import options. However, a survey/form schema can be defined in two different ways:

The resulting survey schema follows a special JSON format.

Therefore, if you were to implement your own Excel-to-Survey JSON Schema importer, I believe it would work perfectly.

Please share your thoughts on this.

    Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for the quick response. It sounds like the second option, the Generation from Code is our best bet. I will look over all of the available documentation you all have and get back to you with any questions.

    Thank you!
    Marcin
